What are optical consumables?

Optical consumables are single-use or regularly replaced items used alongside diagnostic and examination equipment across optometric practices, clinics and hospital settings. For example, tonometer probes are used during intraocular pressure (IOP) measurements to support a method that requires no air or anaesthetic drops, but they must be discarded after use.

The ability for patients to measure their own IOP has the potential to transform glaucoma care. By using home monitoring, we can obtain far more IOP measurements to more accurately identify peak IOP and gain greater appreciation of IOP fluctuations.

Most patients find iCare HOME easy to use and as IOP measurements can be uploaded to the cloud, the clinician can view results remotely.
